Jesting aside, the results of our recent survey were very enlightening. We learned about the health concerns you are dealing with and the health topics that interest you most.
For starters, who are you? It was great to learn that:
- The majority of you (60.3%) are women between 35 and 55 (49%) but we also had many participants in the over 55 range (30%).
- At least one of you is a “Zoomer” (baby boomer with a zip) “who wants to live forever.” We suspect there are many of you. 😉
- Most of you work full or part-time and 22% of you cope with a chronic health condition.
- Almost all of you, who answered our survey, shop in the store (92%) but 20% of you order online too.
A sincere thank you to everyone who participated. We held a draw for a $50 gift certificate and Roya was the winner. We recorded the draw and put it on youtube.
What Is Your Biggest Health Challenge?
This was by far the most interesting part of the survey results. As you can imagine, health conditions suffered among 63 people who shop at a natural food store run the gamut. We cannot mention them all here for lack of space.
However, there were four areas of concern that really stood out. Here they are in order of frequency mentioned starting with the most talked-about health challenge from the survey results.
- Diet and Nutrition Challenges
- Weight Challenges – mostly overweight but also underweight
- Gastrointestinal Challenges – including autoimmune diseases
- Pharmaceutical Injury and Detoxification Challenges
These are very broad categories and there may not be a “one size fits all” approach to coping with challenges even within the same categories. Alternately, there may be ways you can support health across the board.
We will touch on each of the above topics briefly, but we encourage you to come down to the store or give us a call to discuss your unique supplemental nutrition needs.
Diet and Nutrition Challenges
We are probably preaching to the choir when we tell you that the most important thing you can do for your health is to correct your food. But even the staunchest foodies will forget sometimes.
When one diet combination doesn’t seem to be working for you, the solution is to try another. In all the stories where people cure themselves of chronic debilitating diseases, they had to change their diet many times before they got it just right.
If you are in the midst of changing the way you eat, be prepared for a healing crisis. Many people describe the course of their recovery from chronic illness to be a series of healing crises, whereby the body is becoming healthier, so it does some housekeeping to clean out the toxins that are causing your dis-ease.
Healing crises can be severe and debilitating. But there is one supplement that will always help you during a healing crisis – vitamin C. Our favourite vitamin C supplement is Medi-C Plus which is a product of Dr. Gifford-Jones, an eminent natural health proponent. He says:
“This vitamin bolsters the immune system and decreases the risk of shingles, promotes healthy gums, guards against mercury and lead toxicity, decreases wrinkles and even neutralizes the venom of rattlesnakes.”
There are many benefits to supplementing with vitamin C; an easier detox from changing your diet is just one of them.
The unfortunate thing about weight challenges is that we don’t always see an improvement overnight. There are so many underlying issues, that what works for one person may not work for another.
Similarly, different bodies react to the same problem in different ways. An underweight person may be dealing with nutrient absorption issues, but so might an overweight person. Hormones affect our weight and vice versa.
One thing that everyone should pay attention to is their poop. Whether it’s coming out or not, and how it looks when it’s coming out. If your poop is not healthy, you aren’t either.
There are many supplements that can help to get your bowels moving. One that seems to be a “best kept secret” is magnesium. People who have been plagued by constipation for years have been astounded at how well a simple magnesium supplement can make a difference.
One of the very best magnesium supplements you can get is the ionic form of magnesium. Not only does it help with constipation, but many have testified to other incredible benefits such as pain relief, lowering blood pressure, and lessening premenstrual syndrome symptoms (PMS).
Without a doubt, when it comes to gastrointestinal challenges, there is always one supplement you should be taking. Probiotics. No matter who you are or what your medical history has been, if you suffer from gastrointestinal distress in any way, you need more of the good bacteria.
We recommend Vita Biosa as an ideal probiotic due to its triple-fermented and liquid properties. It is easily digestible and designed to match the ph of your stomach so that those little bacteria warriors survive and get to the intestines where they are needed the most.
For people who prefer to swallow a capsule rather than drink a liquid probiotic, Dr. Ohhira’s is superior.
Pharmaceutical Injury and Detoxification Challenges
Does this describe you? There are many of us who trusted the medical establishment when they prescribed us pharmaceuticals but those pharmaceuticals went on to hurt us severely.
Whether it was vaccine adverse reactions, antibiotic toxicity, disintegration of bones and cartilage, or other mind-boggling damage – the number of people harmed by pharmaceuticals is staggering. It is one of the leading causes of death in America.
Whatever immediate and urgent damage we are responding to, we also need to address the toxicity that has inevitably burdened our bodies through pharmaceutical exposure. Our livers take the brunt of this work, so it makes sense to support the liver.
We spoke in another post about Shael Stonebridge’s Liver Cleanse which is an affordable and effective way to gently cleanse the liver regularly. There is also Liv-Herbal Formula, which is known to be very effective at supporting the liver, especially in extreme cases.
We’ve only scratched the surface of how you might address the challenges listed above. Depending on your unique circumstances, there may be more appropriate supplements for your needs.
Circumstances vary and may include what you can afford, whether you’ve had body-altering surgeries, whether you are dealing with emotional stressors in your life, and more.
